Ventura Charter School Homeschool

 

Our hybrid homeschool program is holding an information session for anyone who is interested in homeschooling his/her student/s.  We are a non-profit, tuition-free, accredited, public school that offers the best of both worlds: families can homeschool thier students and be part of a larger school community.  We provide credentialed teachers for support, curriculum, and two days of enrichment classes.  For more information, attend our information session on February 7,2012 at 4:00pm at 3290 Loma Vista Road (on the back of the St. Paul's Church property) in Ventura, or call (805)300-3157 or email at homeschool@venturacharter.org.

 

Tuff Cat Run at Newbury Park High School

 

The Newbury Park High School Baseball Boosters is excited to announce the Tuff Cat Run on Saturday, February 11th, 2012.  This event is for all ages with both the start and finish lines at Newbury Park High School.   There will be a 10k run beginning at 8am, followed by a 5k Mud Run at 9:30am, and a Family Fun Race around the football field starting at 10:30am.  There will also be a Health Fit Fair, food, MVP Baseball and Softball Academy providing interactive strength condition stations and displaying the latest in baseball equipment.  For more information and  to register please visit www.TuffCatRun.com.  The first 500 participants are guaranteed a Tuff Cat Run t-shirt and goody bag.  This event benefits NPHS Athletics.

 

Simms Taback: Making Pictures For Children

 

Step into the brightly colored world of children's book author, illustrator, and Caldecott Medal recipient Simms Taback, when the Museum of Ventura County presents Simms Taback: Making PIctures For Children.  The retrospective of his original illustrations opens December 4th and runs through February 12.  The Taback books are acclaimed for their humorous asides and exquisitely designed pictures, inspired by outside are naive art.  The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 East Main Street in downtown Ventura.  Hours are 11am-5pm Tuesday through Sunday.  Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and $1 for children.  For more information visit www.venturamuseum.org or call 805-653-0323.

 

Celebrate National African American History Month this February

 

In recognition of the contributions and achievements made by African Americans throughout history, the Camarillo Public Library invites you to join us for the following presentations: Black Women in American History and Culture: The Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum will discuss Mrs. Clayton and present artifacts from her library on Sunday, February 5 at 2pm in the Community Room.  Betty Pattengale and Mike Harris perform an eclectic mix of jazz and blues music on Saturday, February 11 at 2pm in the Community Room.  Watch For Love of Liberty: The Story of America's Black Patriots on Saturday, February 25 at 2pm in the Community Room.  This acclaimed film documents the sacrifices and accomplishments of African-American service men and women since the earliest days of the republic.  See Beloved, starring Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover in unforgettable lead roles from the novel by Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison on Sunday February 12 at 2pm in the Community Room.  Everyone is welcome to join in these FREE programs at the Camarillo Public Library Community room, at 4101 Las Posas Road in Camarillo.  For more information on this program or any other programs and events, check the Camarillo Public Library website at CamarilloLibrary.org or call 805-388-5222.

 

2012 Ventura County Go Red for Women Luncheon
